Cutheringa Park Master Plan

Cutheringa Park is classified as “District Sport” according to Townsville City Council open spaces hierarchy. It is home to three clubs including, Western Suburbs Cricket Club, Guides Queensland, and Matsumoto Karate Academy. The district park has three club houses, four cricket fields (all ages), one basketball half-court, a shaded and fenced playground, one picnic set, one public toilet and ample on-street parking (+300 carpark). The park is secured with single bollard fence along Percy Street and several flood lights.

The Western Suburbs Cricket Club have been successfully organising sport tournaments and annual events attracting a large audience and placing an increased demand for better circulation, public amenities, and recreational activities.

While preparing a draft Master Plan, Townsville City Council have listened to historical community feedback and engaged with the clubs to understand their visions and aspirations. The draft masterplan has been developed with sustainability, inclusiveness, accessibility, and social responsiveness in mind.

It is advised that council has committed funds in the current financial year to install boulders barricading around Cutheringa park in response to recent impacts from vehicle access.

Council is seeking to plan for future works in the park. The aim of this engagement is to identify community priorities to assist council in finalising the Cutheringa Park Master Plan ensuring the future Cutheringa Park responds to community needs.
