Park upgrades and facility enhancements can create and provide a better-quality use of open spaces for everyone to enjoy, help keep our city cooler, and support biodiversity in our local region.

Council is committed to providing parks, sporting fields and recreation areas with facilities that promote and contribute to the health and wellbeing of our city.

To deliver on this commitment, Council plans to renew the open space and improve the community facilities within Mornington Park and Bountiful Park, Thuringowa Central.

What is included in this experience gathering project?
Council is aware that both Mornington and Bountiful Park sites are small and are positioned near to each other with both parks having limited play opportunities. Through this awareness Council is requesting community assistance in telling us how they use each of these parks and how we can improve the user experience for future generations to enjoy.

Your expertise is requested so Council can review the suitability of traditional play equipment within these two park locations with the aim in achieving two different play experiences that can support a range of age groups and abilities in the Thuringowa Central area.

As a part of these proposed potential renewals, Council plans to:

➢ Renew the playground at Mornington Park with an increase range of play equipment suitable for younger children.
➢ Remove the old playground equipment at Bountiful Park with the vision to construct a new play space for older children.

Why are these renewal projects necessary?
➢ To improve recreational opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy
➢ To encourage an active and healthy lifestyle
➢ To increase inclusive community facilities within the suburbs

How can you get involved?
A Have Your Say survey will be open for public participation from Monday 14 November to Friday 9 December 2022.
