Consultation has now concluded.
About the project
Townsville City Council plans to construct a pathway along the northern side of First Street between Second Avenue and Flowers Street, and along the southern side of First Street between Flowers Street and Railway Avenue.
This project is funded by the Queensland Government under the School Transport Infrastructure Program (STIP).
The STIP provides funding for projects that improve the safety and operations of transport at schools and provide long term road safety improvements for all road users travelling to and from a school and/or travelling near a school in Queensland.
As part of these works, Council will:
Construct two sections of 2.5-metre-wide plain concrete pathway
Reconstruct an associated section of kerb and channel fronting the First Street entrance into Townsville State High School
Reconstruct identified driveway crossovers and accesses along the northern side of First Street between Second Avenue and Flowers Street
Reseal a section of First Street between Second Avenue and Flowers Street to accommodate car park widening at the First Street entrance into Townsville State High School, and
Remove vegetation as required.
Consultation has now concluded; the final outcomes report will be made available on the Documents Library to the right of this page.
