Townsville City Council is committed to providing parks, sporting fields, recreational areas and inspirational gardens that promote and contribute to our city's health, welfare and community enjoyment.

As part of our commitment, Council is undertaking early planning for the future playground renewal at Little Reid Park, Railway Estate.

About the project

Townsville City Council is undertaking early planning for the playground renewal at Little Reid Park, Flowers Street, Railway Estate.

The park is a popular and well-developed Local Park with a Racing Car theme being located adjacent the V8 Track, with picnicking facilities, playground, learn to ride facility, and a half basketball court.

While improvements are not yet part of Council’s Capital Works Program for construction, community feedback will help prioritise improvements and seek potential future grant applications and funding opportunities.

For further information on what small parks such as Little Reid Park can offer, please download the Park Hierarchy factsheet from the documents section on the right-hand side of this page.

Community Feedback Sought

Council is seeking your input to understand better the way the community use the park and would like to know the following:

  • When and how do you currently use Little Reid Park?
  • What do you love about the park?
  • What improvements would you like to see?

Your valuable feedback will provide community guidance regarding Council's future decision-making and planning opportunities for this park.

How can you get involved?

Council invites you to participate by providing feedback on the potential renewal of Little Reid Park playground by collaborating with us in the 'pre-planning' phase of this project.

Your thoughts and contributions are vital to our planning. They help us make the right decisions to ensure that the playground meets the community's and visitors' needs now and in the future.

Although Council has yet to adopt this project into a future year's budget, community feedback will help prioritise it and identify potential future grant applications and funding opportunities for its delivery.

Council values community feedback on all our projects and invites surrounding residents and park users to participate in the below survey.

The survey will be open for public participation from Wednesday, 9 October to Friday, 8 November 2024.

Meet and greet with Councillor Liam Mooney and the Council team to have your say on the future of this park.

When: Friday 1 November 2024

Where: Little Reid Park, Flowers Street, Railway Estate 4810

Time: 3–4pm

Council will review and evaluate all survey responses and feedback. The final design will consider these while adhering to the Council's playground design guidelines and standards. Council will continue to update the community as the planning of this project progresses.
