Consultation has concluded
Townsville City Council is seeking community feedback on certain assets within our parks and open spaces in order to ensure balanced and responsible budgeting, and value for money for our residents.
Residents are invited to have their say on the utilisation of the Northview Lagoon platform structure located in Idalia in order to determine community appetite for maintenance or removal of the structure.
Townsville City Council thanks you for your contribution in identifying value for the betterment of our parks, open spaces, and wider community.
Project Update
Townsville City Council is committed to providing and maintaining over $5.4B worth of community assets consisting of water and wastewater networks, bridges, drainage, roads, waste management, community facilities, sporting venues and more throughout our city.
Council recently conducted extensive community consultation concerning this platform and through this process, Council received strong support in renewing and or replacing the Northview Lagoon Platform for public use.
Council advises that the platform along the existing pedestrian connection within the lagoon will be refurbished.
This infrastructure project includes refurbishment works to the footing of the Northview Lagoon Platform. These works will prolong the life of the infrastructure and improve community safety.
Works may involve the replacement of damaged parts with the resultant aim of restoring this community asset with a stronger and safer asset for everyday use.
The Northview Lagoon platformrenewalworksare scheduled to commence Tuesday, 22 March 2022 and is expected to take two (2) weeks to complete (weather and project conditions permitting).
Works may involve:
Excavation and trenching
Hydro-vac and diggers operating
Temporary closure of the footpath/platform, safety fencing/barricading
Flashing lights, noise, and dust
Normal works hours are 6am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 6am to 2pm on Saturday. In exceptional cases, work may be required outside these hours.
