Queens Gardens Playground Renewal
Townsville City Council is committed to providing parks, sporting fields, recreational areas and inspirational gardens that promote and contribute to our city's health, welfare and community enjoyment.
As part of our commitment, the Council is undertaking early planning for the playground renewal at Queens Gardens and is seeking community input to co-design the future playground renewal.
About the Project
The playground is situated in the northern quadrant of Queens Gardens. The play equipment and furniture will be updated as part of this community consultation project. A new playground has the potential to enhance amenities and promote inclusivity. Additionally, it could offer a unique play experience that is special to Queens Gardens.
Although Council has yet to adopt this project into a future year's budget, community feedback will help prioritise it and identify potential future grant applications and funding opportunities for its delivery.
Community Feedback Sought
Council is seeking your input to understand better the way the community use the park and would like to know the following:
- When and how do you currently use Queens Gardens playground?
- What do you love about the current playground?
- What theme and age group would you like to see for the playground?
Your valuable feedback will provide community guidance regarding Council's future decision-making and planning opportunities for this park.

Council invites you to Have Your Say by completing the short online survey below.
The survey will be open for public participation from Wednesday, 30 October to Friday, 29 November 2024.
On-site Consultation: Meet and greet with your Divisional Councillor and the Council team to have your say on the future of this park.

Next steps
Council will review and evaluate all survey responses and feedback. The final design will consider these while adhering to the Council's playground design guidelines and standards. Council will continue to update the community as the planning of this project progresses.
