Consultation has concluded
Townsville residents and visitors can enjoy a range of inclusive parks and playgrounds across our region. These safe and accessible play environments use inclusive equipment that welcomes kids and families of all abilities to learn, play and grow together.
The existing Riverway All Abilities Playground uses natural and built surroundings to encourage different types of play, such as active, exploratory, and social play. Initially built in 2009 as one of only seventeen all-abilities playgrounds across Queensland, the Riverway All Abilities Playground is due for an upgrade.
As part of this upgrade, Council plans to decommission the aging playground and build a new inclusive, accessible, and interactive play space adjacent to the Riverway Arts Centre. Council is seeking community input to help us design a playground that will develop the physical, cognitive, sensory, and social skills in children of all abilities.
Council values community feedback on all projects and invites disability service groups, surrounding residents, and park users to participate in the below survey. In addition, participants who wish to attend an associated public consultation workshop are encouraged to register their interest in the comments section of the survey.
Council will incorporate community feedback into a concept design and seek further input through the second round of consultation.
The Riverway All Abilities Playground Upgrade Consultation will be open from Thursday 7 October to Monday 8November 2021.
