Townsville City Council is committed to providing parks, sporting fields, and recreational areas with facilities that promote and enhance the health and wellbeing of our community.

As part of this commitment, Council plans to renew and install new toddler-themed playground equipment, selected by the community, to enhance the facilities at Sister Kenny Toddler Park, located on The Strand.

We invite you to Have Your Say on the proposed playground improvements, including choosing the playground design you believe will best enhance this valued open space. Your feedback is essential in shaping this park and guiding Council's decision-making and planning for future open space projects across our city.

Why is this project necessary

  • To improve recreational opportunities for residents and visitors
  • To promote child development through play
  • To increase an inclusive and all-abilities play space within The Strand.

As part of this project, Council will:

  • Install new playground equipment based on community selection
  • Landscape the renewed playground area.
