Consultation has concluded, thank you for your time.

About the project

Townsville City Council plans to improve the intersection of Bayswater Road and Mooney Street.

This project is funded by the Australian Government Black Spot Program.

Black Spot projects target those road locations where crashes are occurring. By funding measures such as hard-median barriers at dangerous locations, the program reduces the risk of crashes.

As part of the works, Council plans to:

  • install several concrete medians at the intersection
  • construct a pedestrian refuge and install associated kerb ramps
  • separate the turning lanes onto Bayswater Road from Mooney Street
  • realign a small section of plain concrete footpath
  • manage property accesses and realign the pedestrian/cycle path.

Council will also investigate the need to increase the street lighting at the intersection.

How can you get involved?

Council values community feedback on all our projects and invites residents to submit their feedback on the proposed Black Spot intersection improvements.

The short feedback form can be found on this page.

How long is the consultation period?

Public Consultation on the proposed works will run from Friday 28 February until Thursday 19 March.

This consultation has now concluded. When finalised, the public consultation report will be made available for public viewing in the Document Library to the right. Thank you for your time.
