PROJECT UPDATE (SEPTEMBER 2024)

Thank you for your participation in the 2023 Changing Places Facility survey.

The community response highlighted the need for a mobile changing place in public spaces which led to the facility being used at last year's North Australian Festival of Arts (NAFA) and Epherma, to support people with a disability and high support needs.

The Mobile Changing Place Facility will return as part of this year's NAFA, from 26 September to 13 October 2024, near Strand Park.

The council will continue to look for opportunities to participate in all elements of community life

During the consultation phase, the following results were provided:
  • The Council received 62 responses
  • 16 survey respondents used the CPF, an additional 19 respondents looked inside
  • 97% of respondents felt that a CPF is important for improving the accessibility of events
  • 87% felt it was extremely important for accessibility
  • 4.5 people per day entered the CFP on average

INITIAL CONSULTATION (JUNE-AUGUST 2023)

Changing Places Facility Survey

Townsville City Council values the opinions of our community in making decisions to cater our community’s diverse needs.

The Changing Places Facility Survey seeks to understand how useful the community find the mobile changing place facility placed at the Strand.

The initial consultation was between 23 June to 6 August 2023. The survey data will continue to assist Townsville City Council in understanding the role of changing places in improving community access.

A changing place toilet facility includes additional features which provides people with high support needs access to a suitably equipped bathroom.

Council thanks you for your contribution in helping us provide quality, accessible amenities for the community.
