PROJECT UPDATE (JANUARY 2025) - Duggan Plains Park Playground Renewal

Thank you for participating in the public consultation, held from 4 November to 13 December 2024, regarding the Duggan Plains Park Playground Renewal in Alligator Creek.

Council is reviewing all survey responses collected during this engagement. Feedback has been compiled in the community consultation report, accessible in the documents tab on the right-hand side of this page.

About the project

Duggan Plains Park is a significant community asset located approximately 25 kilometers south of Townsville City. This rural locality boasts various club facilities, including the Alligator Creek Pony Club, Community and Sports Club, and the Alligator Creek Lions Club. A proposed redesign aims to enhance the park's functionality and appeal by co-locating the playground equipment with the picnic facilities, forming a Local Node within the park's overall layout.

Although the Council has yet to adopt this project into a future budget, community feedback will help prioritise it and identify potential future grant applications and funding opportunities.

Council is seeking your input to understand better the way the community use the park and would like to know the following:

  • When and how do you currently use Duggan Plains Park?
  • What is the best location for the playground?
  • What theme and age group would you like to see for the playground?

The survey will be open for public participation between Monday, 4 November to Friday, 13 December 2024.

Your valuable feedback will provide community guidance regarding Council's future decision-making and planning opportunities for this park.

Next steps

Council will review and evaluate all survey responses and feedback. The final design will consider these while adhering to the Council's playground design guidelines and standards. Council will continue to update the community as the planning of this project progresses.
