Townsville is a beautiful place to live with over 300 days of sunshine. However, there is a serious side to living in this tropical paradise that we call home. Our natural environment can present some challenges during the monsoon season with the potential for high-risk weather such as flooding and cyclones. During the dry season, there are potential risks associated with bushfires just to name a few.

Council in direct partnership with the Townsville Local Disaster Management Group is committed to the continual education of our growing community on all hazards that can occur in North Queensland and how our residents can best prepare before, during, and after these events.

How can you get involved?

Council values community feedback and invites you to Have Your Say by completing the High-Risk Weather Preparedness survey. Your valuable feedback will contribute to and guide Council and the Townsville Local Disaster Management Group on emergency management decision-making and planning.

Have Your Say

All residents and visitors are invited to participate and Have Your Say on your individual and home's preparedness, understanding of your own personal risk and awareness of disaster information via the feedback form below:

Community consultation for this campaign will open Tuesday, 11 April and will close Friday, 5 May 2023.
