Consultation has concluded

PROJECT UPDATE 

In 2021, Council invited the community to provide feedback in relation to a playground renewal project proposed to improve the overall user experience within the park. The project received 303 visitors to the page, with 39 responses that has provided Council guidance in shaping this park, and more importantly future open space parks within our region.

 An overview of the feedback informed Council of the following:

  • General support for the park and equipment
  • Support for investment in the Deeragun area

Quality green activated open spaces are a priority for our residents, workers, and visitors. Park renewals and facilities upgrades will create better quality open spaces for everyone to enjoy, help keep our city cooler, and support biodiversity in our local region.

Townsville City Council is committed to providing parks, sporting fields, and recreational areas with facilities that promote and contribute to the health and welfare of our city.

Through this commitment, Council plans to renew and install new equipment and community facilities within Innes Park, Deeragun.

The Council welcomes you to participate and Have Your Say on the Innes Park Improvements project. Your valuable feedback will contribute to shaping this park and guide Council on decision making and planning open space projects for our city's future.

Why is this project necessary?

  • To improve recreational opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy
  • To promote child development through play
  • To increase inclusive and all-abilities play spaces in Deeragun

As part of this exciting project, Council plans to deliver:

  • Installation of additional playground equipment, picnic table and seating, and drinking fountain
  • Install a new park sign and rubbish bin
  • Construct a new pathway connection
  • Plant additional shade trees and renew the existing irrigation

How can you get involved?

Council values community feedback on all of our Open Space projects and invites residents and surrounding visitors of the park to submit their feedback on the proposal to improve the facilities for Innes Park via the short feedback form that is located below.

How long is the consultation period?

Community Consultation for the Innes Park, Deeragun Improvements opens Monday, 6 September and will conclude on Friday, 1 October 2021.
