Consultation has concluded

PROJECT UPDATE 

In 2021, Council invited the community to provide feedback in relation to a playground renewal project proposed to improve the overall user experience within the park. The project received 314 visitors to the page, with 97 responses that has provided Council guidance in shaping this park, and more importantly future open space parks within our region.

 An overview of the feedback informed Council of the following:

  • General support for the park and equipment
  • Support for investment in the Annandale area

Council has successfully installed the playground infrastructure - photos of the park renewal can be found in the Images Tab. 

Council thanks you for your valuable contribution to shaping our parks and playgrounds.




Quality green activated open spaces are a priority for our residents, workers, and visitors. Park renewals will create better quality open spaces for everyone to enjoy, help keep our city cooler, and support biodiversity in our local region.

Townsville City Council is committed to providing parks, sporting fields and recreation areas with facilities that promote and contribute to the health and well-being of our city.

Through this commitment, Council plans to install new playground equipment and improve community facilities within MacArthur Park, Annandale

This project is funded by the Australian Government under the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program (LRCI Program Round 2).

The LRCI program supports local councils to deliver priority local road and community infrastructure projects across Australia, supporting jobs and the resilience of local economies to help communities bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Council welcomes you to participate and have your say on this project. Your feedback will contribute to shaping this park, and guide Council on decision making and planning for the future.

WHY IS THIS PROJECT NECESSARY?

  • To improve recreational opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy
  • To promote child development through play.
  • To increase inclusive and all-abilities play spaces in Annandale

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THIS PROJECT? 

As part of this project, Council plans to:

  • Install additional playground equipment and rubber softfall
  • Construct a new connectivity pathway
  • Install new timber grain pavers and stone play elements
  • Landscape the area and renew the existing irrigation system

HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED? 

Council values community feedback on all of our Open Space projects and invites residents and surrounding visitors of the park to submit their feedback on the proposal to improve the facilities for MacArthur Park via the short feedback form that is located below.

How long is the consultation period?

Community Consultation for the MacArthur Park, Annandale Playground Improvements opens Monday, 20 September and will conclude on Friday, 15 October 2021.
