Consultation has concluded

Townsville City Council is committed to providing parks, sporting fields, and recreational areas with facilities that promote and contribute to the health and welfare of our city.

Through this commitment, Council plans to renew and install new equipment and community facilities within Oonoonba Park, Oonoonba.

The Australian Government has proudly funded this project under the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program (LRCI Program Round 2).

The LRCI program supports local Councils to deliver priority local road and community infrastructure projects across Australia, supporting jobs and the resilience of local economies to help communities bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Council welcomes you to participate and Have Your Say on the Oonoonba Park Improvements project. Your valuable feedback will contribute to shaping this park and guide Council on decision making and planning open space projects for our city's future.

Why is this project necessary?

  • To improve recreational opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy
  • To encourage an active and healthy lifestyle
  • To increase inclusive community facilities within the Oonoonba suburb

As part of this exciting project, Council plans to deliver:

  • Construct a new pathway connection
  • Install a new picnic table including seating and shade shelter
  • Install new free BBQ facilities
  • Install additional seating platforms, rubbish bin and drinking fountain
  • Plant new shade trees

How can you get involved?

Council values community feedback on all of our Open Space projects and invites residents and visitors to the park to submit their feedback on the proposal to improve the facilities for Oonoonba Park via the short feedback form located below.

How long is the consultation period?

Community Consultation for Oonoonba Park, Oonoonba Improvements opens Monday, 23 August and will conclude on Friday, 17 September 2021.
