Freshwater Park Renewal

PROJECT UPDATE

In 2019, Council invited the community to provide feedback in relation to a playground renewal project proposed to improve the overall user experience within the park. The project received 605 visitors to the page, with 20 responses that has provided Council guidance in shaping this park, and more importantly future open space parks within our region.

An overview of the feedback informed Council of the following:

• General support for the park and equipment
• Support for investment in the Douglas area

Council has successfully installed the playground infrastructure and works have been completed. Photos of the park renewal can be found in the Images Tab.

Townsville City Council is committed to providing parks, sporting fields and recreation areas with facilities that promote and contribute to the health and wellbeing of our city.

Council welcomes you to participate and have your say on this project. Your feedback will contribute to shaping this park and guide Council on decision making and planning for the future.

As part of this project, Council plans to:

• install new playground equipment
• install new seats, a bin and a dog bag dispenser
• install a new park sign and water bubbler
• construct a new concrete pedestrian pathway to connect community facilities
• landscape the area.

Council invites visitors and surrounding residents of the park to have their say on the new playground facility and community facilities proposed for Freshwater Park.
