Consultation has concluded
PROJECT UPDATE
In 2019, Council invited the community to provide feedback in relation to a playground option proposed to improve the overall user experience within the park. The project received 639 visitors to the page with 31 responses that has provided Council guidance in shaping this park, and more importantly future open space parks within our region.
An overview of the feedback informed Council of the following:
General support for the park and proposed equipment
Support for investment in the Belgian Gardens area
Interest in provision of signage for wayfinding and safety
Council will be proceeding with the installation of the new playground.
Construction works are anticipated to commence 9 March 2020 and take around 5 weeks to complete – weather permitting.
Council thanks you for your contribution to shaping our parks and playgrounds.
Townsville City Council is committed to providing parks, sporting fields and recreation areas with facilities that promote and contribute to the health and wellbeing of our city.
Council welcomes you to participate and have your say on this project. Your feedback will contribute to shaping this park and guide Council on decision making and planning for the future.
As part of this project, Council plans to:
install new playground equipment and shade sail
install new park sign
landscape the area.
Council invites visitors and surrounding residents of the park to have their say on the new playground facility and community facilities proposed for the Hooper Street Park.
