PROJECT UPDATE Children in Townsville have a new outlet for their energy with the new playground installed at Vincent’s Cambridge Park. The Mountaineer playground, which is designed for children of all abilities to make playtime more accessible to local families, is now open for use. The $320,000 project was funded by the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland (W4Q) program and supported six jobs through contractor Urban Play, which undertook the installation. Urban Play consultant Wil Haberer said Cambridge Park boasted the first Mountaineer playground in Queensland, which would add value to the lives of many children in the area. The community feedback received from this public consultation engagement provided strong support for the commencement of the new Mountaineer playground that will improve the overall user experience within the open space. *Please refer to Council's Media Release for more information about the new Cambridge Park Renewal.*
