Council would like to provide you with a further update on the Renaming of Innes Park proposal.
Council has received a community request to rename Innes Park, located at 10 Innes Drive Deeragun, after the late Ms Rosemary Russo who passed away in 2016.
Ms Russo was a resident of the area surrounding Innes Park for over 20 years. She ran a children’s day care from her home and regularly took the children she cared for to play in this park. Rosemary was also a member of the Castle Hill Lions Club and participated in many community projects and activities.
As per Council's adopted Naming of Parks, Reserves and Park Facilities Policy, requests to rename a park must be formally assessed by Council; in supporting this, a period of public consultation was undertaken from Wednesday 5 February, to Wednesday 11 March 2020.
The findings of this public consultation were submitted for deliberation as part of the Ordinary Council Meeting held on 23 June 2020.
At this meeting, a recommendation was put forward that Council agree for a park seat and associated plaque to be installed within Innes Park in honour of Ms Russo.
Council will be proceeding with the installation of the park seat and plaque bench in consultation with Ms Russo's family within the next few months.
