About the Project

Council is current reviewing and renewing the Ross River Waterway Management System – Management of Recreational Use Plan 2015-2018. This involves the updating of Environmental, Water Quality and Recreational Use Management Objectives.

Consultation is now open for key sport and recreation user organisations to provide feedback on your current use on the freshwater sections of the Ross River (Aplin’s, Gleeson’s and Black Weirs); including limitations, challenges, ideas or general comment that will help develop the new plan.

How you can participate

On this page you will find the survey, the current plan, river map and a proposal for Black Weir Recreational Use Zone Arrangements. Face to face meetings will be offered to clubs/organisations in addition to the below survey as required.

Your input will assist the project team in developing the new management plan, and ensure operational issues and opportunities are captured prior to the development of the draft to be sent for public comment.

Key dates

Consultation with key stakeholder groups opens on Tuesday 3 May 2022 and closes on Tuesday 31 May 2022.

For any further information, please contact sport@townsville.qld.gov.au or haveyoursay@townsville.qld.gov.au
