PROJECT UPDATE
In 2020, Council invited the community to provide feedback in relation to a playground renewal project proposed to improve the overall user experience within the park. The project received 474 visitors to the page, with 38 responses that has provided Council guidance in shaping this park, and more importantly future open space parks within our region.
An overview of the feedback informed Council of the following:
- General support for the park and equipment
- Support for investment in the Pallarenda area

Project Update
Council would like to provide you with a further update on the Walter Nisbet Park playground renewal project within Pallarenda.
Council invited the community to provide feedback in relation to a playground option proposed for the park that will improve the overall user experience within the open space. The project received 363 visitors to the page with 37 responses that has provided Council guidance in shaping this project and more importantly future open space parks within our region.
An overview of the feedback informed Council of the following:
- Overall considerable support for the project,
- Support for investment in the Pallarenda area,
- Concerns raised regarding the design and variety of users within the park, and
- 95% community support towards the Concept 1 playground.
As a result of the community consultation, Council will be proceeding with the installation of the new playground within Walter Nisbet Park:

Construction works are anticipated to commence Monday 25 May 2020 and take around 6 weeks to complete – weather permitting.
Works may involve:
- Operation of machinery;
- Flashing lights, construction traffic; and
- Noise and dust.
Normal works hours are 6am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 6am to 2pm on Saturday. In exceptional cases, work may be required outside these hours as advised above.
Council has appointed UrbanPlay to carry out these works.

As part of this exciting project, Council plans to:
- Install a new playground aimed at the junior aged groups,
- Install new rubber Softfall under the playground for safety,
- Install a new shade structure covering the playground, and
- Landscape and beautify the playground.
How can you get involved?
Council values community feedback on all of our projects and initiatives and invites residents and surrounding visitors of the park to submit their feedback on the proposal to renew the playground facilities for Walter Nisbet Park, Pallarenda.
How Long is the consultation period?
Community Consultation for Walter Nisbet Park, Pallarenda opens Monday, 9 March and will conclude on Friday, 10 April 2020.
