Townsville City Council is developing a Flying-Fox Roost Management Plan (the Plan) for five urban flying-fox roosts within the region. Your valuable feedback is important to inform the Plan.
Flying-foxes, sometimes known as fruit bats, regularly visit the Townsville local government area. Council is preparing the Plan to assist in reducing the impacts of flying-foxes on the community, whilst also conserving flying-foxes and their important role in the ecosystem (spreading pollen and seeds). The Plan will focus on known and potential flying-fox roosts that sometimes conflict with human settlement.
These roosts are located at:
Dan Gleeson Memorial Gardens, Kirwan
Morstone Street Park, Annandale
Riverside Gardens, Douglas
The Palmetum Botanic Gardens, Douglas
Ring Road, Alice River
Additional roosts can occur within the Townsville local government area but are not the focus of the Plan or survey.
Council, is seeking your valued feedback with this survey, and your responses will be used to inform the Plan. The survey consists of multiple-choice and optional short-answer responses. It will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
Survey responses will be broadly summarised in the Plan. Your responses will not be identifiable, and your details will not be published, shared, or used for any other purpose.
How can you get involved?
The survey can be completed online via the link below or in person at one of the Community Information Sessions (please note exact locations can be found within the Documents tab on the right):
